thats actually the way most of them mount the front plate here.
had the front plate in same position on the old Elan without noticing any negative effects.

Yes, my numberplate is also mounted like this. It just looks better, when it is "out of the way". By the way, are you member of the SWISS LOTUS TEAM (that's the Swiss Lotus owners club)? Cheers, Ron.
