European Breakdown

Postby JusNoGood » Sat 12.01.2019, 12:15

Hi All,

I'm planning a trip to Italy this year, so thought it worth getting some Euro breakdown - theory is if I get it I won't need it

Flux offer a 'special classic car breakdown cover'. I think it's just discounted rather than anything special. 45 mins road side assistance, fix and road or local garage and it not possible takes you and car back home. Home cover too. All for £56 for the year.

I have personal breakdown cover on my other cars insurance. So I'll phone them too to find out how much it costs to add European.

Does anyone have experience of using their European Breakdown cover and how was it?

Jus.

Have to say in over 30 years of taking a Lotus to Europe, probably covering over 30,000 miles in the process (or should that be 48,000km?), I've never actually used breakdown cover, but I have always taken it out.

If my classic policy didn't cover me I would use AA, but they may have a car age limit now. Think my FJ policy included European Travel, but can't recall.

Hi Jus - every year I drive to south of Barcelona (Tarragona).. through France. As a member of the AA I take out their 3-week Euro insurance.. about £80 (and i think you can but it without being a member). One year i did need it as my S2 broke down at Toulouse.. couldn't get it fixed. I got road side pick up to a Lotus dealer, initial technical inspection, night in a hotel, get a hire car (to continure with my journey for 3 weeks..ok, it was a Polo!(the shame)), the car shipped back to my home and a return flight from Toulouse to Luton. I was able to claim everything back and the support they gave was excellent. Really recommended. Mike
