Deer vs Elan - both come off worse

hit a deer in the lotus.... cannot see the deer ... car not badly damaged, drive able, but called the police and a hunter was dispatched. Pushed the bumper in and damaged the fibreglass crash box....The steel mesh grill is nearly £200!!!!!!!

poor deer - it was cut by the headlight mount and it ran off, but it was injured

Headlight mountings broken although the headlight still works. Scratches and broken paint all over the bumper. Number plate fixings broken but that's a simple fix. indicator on the front doesn't work - but the side and rear do

cannot remember how to post pics in here - but got off lightly ------ the bill is likely 2000 though

Sorry to hear, but it could have been a lot worse. I’ve had a few close ones with deer. No matter how observant you are, sometimes they seem determined to leap out in front of you, and they’re big enough to kill you. Last month a big one decided to cross the road between me and the car in front, despite both of us doing about 50mph. It’s scary.

don't pay that much for a front grille (unless you absolutely need to keep it totally original).

I bought a sheet of aluminium mesh from an ebay seller in Poland (they do silver or anodised black). Simply cut to shape (when you get to the back of the bumper you can see how it needs to go) - shape it by hand and attach with sikaflex (or similar).

It cost me about £30 for a sheet big enough to do all 3 at the front, and the one at the rear.

I once visited a friend of mine back in the '80s who was living in Sweden, most of the cars on the road, including his, were the old boxy Volvos, I asked him why there were so few sexy Saabs and he replied you want to see the damage hitting an Elk can do! Later, during our stay, a sexy Saab ran into the back of my pals Volvo, nearly wrote the Saab off, the Volvo, just a few flesh wounds!
