Un-f%&ki*g-believable!

When I get out to my car thismorning, what do I find? Someone has scaped and scratched all along the RHS rear bumper and quarter, and broken the RHS rear light cluster. un-f%&k*ing-believable.

The only saving grace is that she left her phone number and name (no insurance details though!).

Pictures below. Chris foulds reckons ~600-800 quid if it doesn't need a new bumper...

They had something on Radio 5 today about Bump and runs. Some people write a note and put it under the wiper to make it look good for any parking attendant or whoever is around. The note will actually say something like, "The parking attendant thinks i'm leaving you my details but i'm not - loser"

What? Mine cost 150 for mild filler and respray to the bumper corner and edge of joining panel.

The Light cluster is the expensive bit though, 80-130 IIRC.

Real sorry for the damage but hopefully her insurance will cough up. Get a good expensive quote and cover a few other bits which could be done at the same time

Had some trouble getting hold of her, but finally managed to find the harridan involved. The phone number she left had one digit wrong (See Watson! It say 6, but looked like it had been changed from a 5!).

Still waiting on the insurance details though, shes a young girl and the dad keeps her insurance details apparently.

Theres a guy selling new ones on eBay, that I bought mine off through LEC last year, he works for Renault and gets them on staff discount. Mine worked out at £110 delivered.

Good luck with the insurance details. Mine keeps getting driven into in the staff car park, but even with CCTV coverage we cant see who's doing it, and so far only one persons owned up. My beautifully painted rear bumper is now sporting another scrape *sigh*

Well, despite the apparent posibility that she was gonna jerk me around, she hasn't. I got the insurance details of her yesterday and I've informed my insurance company. Now all I need to do is contact her insurer and get the car down to Chris Foulds Lotus. Kudos for her honesty.

Conundrum: do you reward someone for being honest under these circumstances? She dinged your M100 but was honest. Does one reward the honesty or sanction the carelessness?!
I'd go with the former. It's good to encourage honesty and fair dealing. Just MO.

Well, where the Garage gets its parts from is by-the-by, I'm certain they'll quote for the parts from Lotus Direct. Amusingly they will also need to pay for me to take a day off work so I can drive it down to Chris Foulds ;D
