Élan tool kit

Are they rare ? Did they come as standard?

Look at this on eBay:

Craig,

They did come as standard (but there were versions with and without the penknife) - but many have been 'retained' by previous owners (or parts of the kit) - so to find a complete one is unusual, and I'm sure it will attract a suitable price at auction

If you haven't already done so, check under the left side of the boot carpet of your car - you should find the jack handle and tool kit under the plywood panel (in the dipped bit of the boot floor).

If you still have a toolkit, I'd be surprised, but you never know your luck!

(I only have a rusty & incomplete one  )
Dave

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?

I used to have one like the one in Ray's picture, which I believe is the later type.
I was lucky enough to be able to swap it for an earlier one (like in the eBay ad) when I did a favour for someone who was about to sell their Elan.
The badge, while looking very smart, just robs the kit of valuable space and I think that the earlier type is far more useful.
It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if that one in the ad makes 4 times as much as it's currently at.

I have a spare case with a broken latch lurking about in the garage, but it doesn't have any contents.
It could easily be filled with some specially cut foam though, and then some similar tools...
Striking fear into the hearts of duplicate posts everywhere...! :P

Neil ;-)

Left a toolkit from 1993 Esprit, right 1993 Elan.

As you can see, there is more work on an Esprit than Elan.

I never sold this kit because it has no 'emblem' so might be not worth a lot.

Maybe better to stick a badge onto it as price of the e-bay kit seems to be rising up.

These are real German quality tools in it, lots don't have such good stuff at home.

I have saved the pictures from E-bay before bid's end, otherwise we would not find them anymore.

Toolkit Elan 1991?
