Very useful if you like the hood down in cold weather. With heater on and side windows up everything keeps warm apart from my left ear (for RHD, would be your right ear in LHD) as wind swirls back into centre of car from behind. Wind deflector stops all that. If my wife is a passenger, a rare occurrence, she prefers I use it whatever the weather as her hair is blown in front of her face without it.

If the weather is not cold I don't bother with it as I usually drive with side windows down too as there is no 'swirl back'. Often wondered what the comparative Drag Coefficients are for side windows up / down as there seems less turbulence with them down.

I agree with you Giniw. I'd much rather have the wind in my hair feeling. Luckily for me, Im not follically challenged !!

I drive my M100's in rain, hail, sun, snow and have never had any problems. The lowest temp I have driven in was -14C with the top down and I'm still here to prove it

but leaving side windows up does too. Lotus publicity shots always had side windows down if hood was down but very few members who post photos on here seem to follow that.
I'll ruin the aesthetic when I think the situation needs it. Coming back from Brands Snatch Lotus Weekend Bank Holiday Sunday I was heading east on A12 into a thunderstorm and put the side windows up for some torrential rain. Hood still down but fortunately the outer lane was cruising at about 65 mph at which speed rain that went over the screen went over the cockpit too and rain wiped off the screen was passing along the side windows as a thick bar about 2 cm from the top so nothing came in but it started coming over the top around 70. Interesting demonstration of air flow and where water goes. Caused a bit of amusement to the occupants of an Esprit and Exige travelling the same route too.
(Wonder what effect the wind deflector might have made had I been using it ... )

Well, I was coming home from Brands Hatch this year when i encountered a thunder storm.... stop me if you've heard it before.....

I was on the M25, and have always managed to keep going through rain at about 50mph..... but this was a tad heavy, and trafic conditions had me travelling at 30-45mph.....

....and I was getting wet!

(LGM hoops with integrated wind deflector).

I had to stop under a bridge and put the roof up . (the river along the side windows was coming up over the glass, as opposed to flowing off the rear edge into the slipstream).

My reflector arrived today and it's the same as the one I paid well over £120 4 years ago, don't know if I should be happy to have a new one for less than £15 of pissed off that I paid over £120 for one 4 years ago

Still cheaper than a second-hand one from DVB Ps mine arrived aswell had to buy at that price
