Later this year I will be moving to France I wondered if Since Brexit anybody had successfully managed to register their Elain on to the French system, I am told is's very difficult and I should sell the car before moving

I haven't to France but it doesn't appear to be that hard or expensive and if you have had the car for at least 6 months you can be exempt from VAT so no real effect for a private individual post Brexit (it is actually standard to be VAT exempt if it is your personal vehicle). Most of the apparent difficulty is that importing and exporting cars is unlikly to be a process that you are familiar with - it doesn't appear to be much different to importing a car into the UK, but factor in a x2 effort for European bureaucracy - That said the French national sport is being as difficult and bloody minded as possible towards the English.
