Well, right up until my mum rang me 15 minutes in for a half hour chat . . . . Fortunately, I recorded it Looked as though it was a good show, although the early studio scenes were a bit sad

I must admit I thought the last one was dross.......
there were two unfinished films.......that were 'average'....
the empty studio and poor links........

a sad end to what was on occasion a funny show.......even if it had little or no relevance to those of us earning less than £1m a year......
their constant lust for blagging exotica to drive round Europe or somewhere for a week got a little tedious altho' given half the chance Id have done the same....
why not........if you can get away with being given the most expensive cars to hoon around in for a week or so, getting paid to do it...and travelling the world to boot.........who wouldn't....

Like most things TV programs including Top Gear become very popular,reach a plateau then fade away. TG was at its zenith at least 5years ago and they have been rehashing the same old since then
I personally can't stand Chris Evans but my boys quite like Guy Martin so a different generation different tastes.
For a considered, informative view I quite like Chris Harris on YouTube but he doesn't seem to be on anything else.

hes got sort of an agoraphobia/glossophobia/enochlophobia........thing going on
kinda doesn't like crowds and public speaking

hes different if you catch him in his environment and ask him questions......

I dare say Clarkson & Co will take his ball and go and play in another field.
They really need to up their game and not just churn out the same old stuff
or we might as well just watch Dave.

I hope the new top gear takes the program in a new and better direction

A new direction will be a better one because the outgoing one has been worn out.
The items in the last show contained nothing which I thought were new.
I felt the most poignant part of the show was the lack of Clarkson's 'on that bombshell' being replaced by James May's 'goodbye'. It seemed like a natural way to end a show.

Like many others, I am not a fan of Chris Evans. I would rather see it presented by a racing driver than a journalist.
Maybe 2 regulars & a guest presenter each week would be an interesting twist?

Not a fan of the Ginger, and was furious when Top Gear cancelled the show last March ( I pay my licence ! ) but in hindsight it had become tired and jaded and just wasn't that funny anymore. Rumour is CHM threesome off to ITV for something similar but new. So maybe we'll get two shows now.

Agreed - Chris Harris is informed, interesting and a great communicator. Which will be fine if the new show is a car show, rather then light entertainment with a motoring theme (although I did quite like TG)

They were a complete bunch of tossers and so up their own backsides it wasn't true. Particularly Clarkson. (I used to like his books at one time ) Strangely enough though, I quite like James May when he's doing his own thing with rockets and science things

I have mixed feelings, the worst parts for me was the mindless consumption of now-rare cars (and caravans for that matter!) in the pursuit of a cheap laugh.

Some of the features were well produced I thought, camerawork was good and I had to be slightly envious (as said above) about some of the things they got paid to do.

I'll hope the new show has a more informative angle without being condescending, I'd like to see reviews of cars that we might be able to afford without badge bias, other than some better promotion of UK-built products.

I used to hate the ginger whinger but now he has mellowed a bit I quite like him. At least he is a petrolhead and amongst his extensive car collection, mainly Ferrari's, he has a Lotus (Esprit) so he can't be all that bad Lets hope he isn't a Clarkson clone. But I fear he will become one

PS What happened to Jodie Kidd ?? Wasn't she being touted to replace Clarkson ?? Saw her at Silverstone Classics with Muley. Not actually "with" him if you know what I mean She looked good in a tight racing suit

I'll give him the benifit of the doubt. He was destined to fail at Radio 2 but is actually very good, his Sunday Mail Car Reviews (no, say nowt, I have to buy the DM for 'er indoors) are usually well presented and he even brings something to the Beeb on a Friday evening.

He's like a Jenga Tower - he could fall any way!

I just can't shift the image of him on Don't Forget Your Toothbrush attempting to play golf with a number of unexpected items, while facing the audience. Items like yoghurt, eggs etc.

You're right, he has mellowed and the TOGS were never going to give him an easy ride into Radio 2. I'm mellowing too and realise that Radio 1 has less and less for me these days, so oscillate between R2, R4, Capital and Kiss. What an eclectic set that is!

I think he could be a good presenter, shame Jodie isn't in on it though.

I know it's only an opinion but really Jodie Kidd! did anyone see her abysmal performance on The Classic Car Show, the actual set was less wooden.

Personally I don't understand why they always churn out presenters from other shows to take on this type of show, why don't they give some young unknowns a chance who might not be tarnished by the expectation that will no doubt be heaped on whoevers shoulders Chris Evans decides will be his co-presenters.

I did hear on the grapevine that JC and co were planning a show with the ITV which is likely to be broadcast in completion with the new Top Gear, timings to match and everything, now that will be interesting to see
