2. I need roll over protection right away

My immediate thought was that the roll-over protection given by the windscreen pillars was just as bad as in the Elan [a quick plug for the hoops group-buy].

The last few weekends I've been working furiously to get the Elan back on the road ahead of my house move, having been sat on the drive unloved for a very long time.
So far:
- stripped down exhaust manifolds, downpipe & turbo parts, ported wastegate, fitted Piper downpipe
- derusted, cleaned & painted various heatshields and brackets
- fitted full set of Samco coolant hoses
- fitted full set of Samco air hoses - prototype set
- thorough interior clean & leather treatment
- thorough exterior clean, seals, and under bonnet area
- closed loop conversion
- scrubbed, derusted, degreased & repainted the front suspension
- stripped down, cleaned and refitted front hi-spec brakes
- stripped down, cleaned and refitted rear stock brakes
- removed, derusted, cleaned and refitted all 4 brake discs
- stripped down, cleaned, packed, fitted and adjusted rear hub bearings

I'm just waiting for Lotus to send me two turbo mounting nuts (A100E6382S), and then I can fire her up again for the first time in about a year!

Unlikely, unfortunately! I'll be taking the Elan for an MOT, then work, then finishing packing up our house for the big move out west!
I'll be back for a visit at some point though...

Meeting fellow Elan owner and LEC member, Kmckmc, for a beer this evening in Taipei. I can recommend trying to get in contact with owners in distant places in spare moments during business trips.

Kmckmc thinks that there are probably 10 Elans in Taiwan. That is not bad.

I've successfully soldered a device with a 0.5mm lead pitch to a bare copper pcb. To put this in perspective, the board did not have a solder resist layer and the solder I was using was 0.5mm diameter.
