I'm doing a Triathlon! Chosen charity - Prostate Action

Postby ShaunM » Tue 01.05.2012, 20:19

Hi after failing miserably to grow a bear for Movember, as I'm young (yeah right) and fit (definitely not!) I've signed up to do a triathlon this year. I will be raising money for Prostate Action.

Any donations are greatly appreciated and you can easily donate this my justgiving page, which also has details about the charity
http://www.justgiving.com/Shaun-Marrison

The event is on the 1st July, only 8 and a half weeks to go....!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For those twitter and facebook fans, I am posting all my training workouts so you can see how what, where and when (with maps!!!):

BTTT

Come on guys, Shauns only made 20% of his target and needs more donations. Good cause as I'm sure you know and WILL affect someone in your life. I know i've got a vested interest so i'm not going to bang on about it.

Hope the trainings going well, my neighbour is training hard for his lands end to John O'groats ride, he's lost so much weigh, almost unrecognisable.

Cheers Chris

Fell off the bike yesterday at 29mph. I was holding onto the triathlon bars which have no brake levers, looked behind me and when I looked forward again I hit a bump in the road and went up the 1 foot high grass verge. From then on and 30yards I was in the hands of the Gods. No chance to brake, I just held on for dear life and wondered if I was going to end up in the hawthorn hedge or in a heap in the middle of the road....wait, I might just slows down and be okay...ah, no...this is going to hurt....WHACK!

Handed in a heap in the road. Ripped skin off my shoulder, right thigh, right knee, and my right wrist took the majority of the impact. Managed to limp home and get my hand wrapped up. It's swollen to say the least, possibly fractured, but not much I can really do about it except rest.

It was quite a funny accident as I really was a passenger, clinging for dear life onto the bars, waiting for the crash. I'm quite happy to be honest, I've had the crash now, so shouldn't have another one for a while, and most importantly I didn't break my collar bone which is the most common injury for these types of accidents.

So, it's race on, 2 weeks to go and have raised £200 so far :D

This time next week and I will be either very sore or you'll be reading about my tragic demise in the paper! So only a few days to donate to Prostate Action if you haven't done so already. Thanks to all that have including all the lotus boys at the Norfolk/Suffolk meet last monday.

Triathlon is now finished, did a good time as well so really pleased. After "whininging" about my wrist for the past 2 weeks, i went to hospital the day after the triathlon and an x-ray has confirmed it is broken. I knew it was, but wanted to finish the event and raise the funds for the charity instead of pulling out. Appoinment with surgeon tomorrow.

I am so close to my target so any more donations greatly appreciated :-) http://www.justgiving.com/Shaun-Marrison
