I had a problem with the starter motor on my S2. I phoned a number of Lotus specialists and they all made quite a big deal (as I expected) about the difficulties in getting to it. Then it came back to me that a very local garage had helped me with my Elan +2 back in the early 80s. It’s a family business, and doesn’t claim to be a Lotus specialist, but the current senior member of the business (Derek) still has the Elan Sprint which I recall him having back then.

D.Melling and Sons in Leyland, Lancs tackled the job with no fuss at all. Starter off, refurbished, replaced and two new cooling fans fitted all the same day. Good job and reasonable charge. I will use them again.
