geometry set up

Postby stevieshag » Tue 07.06.2005, 23:53

After rebuild of suspension kermit is going into sportomotive in salisbury to get the geometry set up correct, they have quoted me a max of £200 to do this, i thought this was quite reasonable. has anyone else had this done by a lotus main dealer/agent & had a similar quote.

stevie.

think i was quoted £200 from Chris foulds (specialist), but will charge more if they have trouble getting bolts off.

Stevie, make sure that u can remove the bolts from the top wishbone to the ball joint were the shims are, u might also have trouble with the old rear top arms unless u have replaced these :-/

Hi Monty, yeah new ball joints top & bottom with new bolts & lots of copper slip, top arms were taken off sand blasted powder coated & fitted with new bushes, so everything should come apart easily for them.
Done all the hard work for them.

Got Kermit back.!! [smiley=happyclap.gif]

Sportomotive have done the front geometry, car feels good, they also done the brake fluid, oil & coolant change, MOT, the rear o/s wishbone needed welding they had to strip the rear brakes & clean them up, they had not been used for a while so thought that was reasonable, 1 side of the car was apparantly spot on for geometry, with the other needing adjustment. I also had a loan car while they had kermit, was hoping for a Esprit, but had to put up with a Rover 620i :-/, very happy with their service, more so than they were with the rover when they collected it off the roundabout after the head gasket went, [smiley=help.gif] luckily it was within walking distance to garage! all for £442 inc vat, so i will give them the [smiley=thumb.gif]

Sinclaires of London just done mine for £58+vat

That was basic adjustment though, they didnt go near the stuff thats usually hard to get off, or requires not parts, it's not 'perfect' but they have fixed quite a lot, and then 'balanced' it out best they can. It does need to go back in for the finishing work, but before hand I'll get all of those bolts loosened, and take a look at bushes/joints that may need to be replaced.

The mentioned something about replacing (i think it was the front) with S2 parts, as they're better. Personally, I dont know much about that.

Stratstone Lotus, Milton Keynes have quoted me £95.00 inclusive for full 4 wheel geometry check and adjustment, as I have recently noticed my front tyres are wearing more on the inside, and I have recently changed the rear wishbones.
