After almost a year of ownership, and doing my own maintainence, the inevitable finally happened ... I had to put my trust in a mechanic. Eventually I was reffered to Flash Automotive (small "boutique" workshop), 42 Hardie St, Darlinghurst - (02) 9331 3633 - Peter.
Sevice was great ... knowledge of the vehicle was good (he did have a wall full of various Lotus Workshop manuals) and on first inspection the work seems competent. I was charged $AUD350.00 (about 140 quid) for a scheduled B service and a CAS O ring change, which I thought was reasonable.
If you use him tell him you saw it here

Wonder if he can fix the squeaks in the back of the Elise sounds like a bunch of rats humping

I wonder what color the next one will be?
