People - I am a servicing novice and as such, I warn you now that the following questions may cause you severe bouts of rolling around pointing and laughing. Nevertheless, I shall pursue...

How should I go about servicing the Elan?

Purchased her in July and have done 4,000 miles. It has now done 91,000.

Should it be done on a six-monthly basis or yearly basis? Or is mileage the only factor to consider?

The service schedule in the Repairs section is confusing me also - how often should I be doing an A service (it stops at 78,000)?

Is a B+C+# every 60,000 or just once at 60,000 and then no more needed.

How often should I do a C service?

Finally, is Kenny Broon still the way forward in Glasgow?

there's a maintenance/service schedule in this forum somewhere (too lazy to do the search for you) (figure Sy or John or Geoff will point you to it) and you can see the recommended intervals

your fellow Scottsmen can point you to known Lotus/Elan service places I'd expect

1. "How should I go about servicing the Elan?" If you are going to do it yourself, the main page has links to all the tasks. I would get the manual of the main page if I were you - it's all covered in section OE

2. Technically if you have an SE with turbo the oil and filter change should be done every 6 months or 6,000 miles. Annually should be the minimum. The specialist who serviced my blue car for the previous owner reckoned annually was OK for the SE - but the owner was consistently doing < 4,000 miles per year.

3. After 78,000 miles the manual says B at 84,000 A+C at 90,000, B at 96,000; extrapolating from this I suspect the sequence would then be A,B,A,B+C etc at 6,000 mile intervals.

4. A 'C' was due at 90,000 miles.

5. There's a good Scottish Elan clan - they'll put you right I'm sure.

FWIW my maintenance 'schedule' is; oil and filter every 6-8 months; all other fluids around 18 months. Most of the 'check/inspect' stuff is done by your MOT tester but I inspect my own disk pads from time to time..on these older cars service items get done by default in a lot of cases e.g. I renew the coolant after replacing the odd hose or radiator, replace brake fluid when I replace the hoses etc etc
