Having a bit of free time today and suspecting my cars coolant system was just filled with water I finally decided to do coolant flush plus recirculation pump, CTS and thermostat replacement..
I noticed that there was no hot air coming from the car vents (not normally needed here so I guess I never checked it before)!
Heater valve looked like this...
After referencing the wiki and ordering a new 1 from breydon motors and being curious to the look of the "origional valve" shown I wondered if mine had been replaced with a non standard unit??
Wanting to get the car back together and not wait a few weeks for the Uk order thought I'd search locally for a new valve and came up with this.
AC delco part # 12515169 not sure which other car it is fitted to but although it looks different it fits and works fine
Doing a search for the part # I came up with
http://www.autopartsdeal.com/Parts_List ... aguar/xj6/It shows an identical valve to what I removed as well as the part I fitted

I guess main reason for the post is to help people outside of the Uk who need an alternative solution...
Hope the info is usefull to someone
Cheers
