water on the floor...heat causes fog.

Hi All,

I have found I have water leaking on the floor (and not from the soft top) on the drivers side when the AC is on. Also, when I turn on the defroster, the windows fog up. Do I need to replace the heater core or maybe (not likely) a drain hose has come loose? Any help would be appreciated.

Does it smell like coolant / antifreeze or just plain water? If the former, then your heater or the hoses that feed it may be leaking. If it smells like plain water and you've been running the AC, it's possible there's a drain hose off. One other overlooked possibility is the foam hose that serves as the air inlet to the heater. They tend to be brittle now that they're 20 years old. Since they sit in the inner fender, I suppose a leaking duct/hose would let water in. This would especially be the case if your passenger-side fender liner is missing. Look at this threadfor other pointers. Remove the passenger side inner fender (it's apparently on the passenger side, regardless of RHD or LHD) and look up inside, right against the firewall. You should see the hose (if there's anything left of it.)
