Upper Radiator Hose Length and Routing

Postby ccb056 » Wed 18.04.2012, 20:57

Can someone supply some pictures of the routing of their coolant hose between the thermostat and radiator?

Purchased a white M100 a little over a month ago with 40k miles. A few days after a coolant flush and fill with Prestone I noticed a small coolant leak coming from the radiator on the passenger side, seemingly between the core and the plastic tank..... I'm betting the flush removed all the debris that was plugging the hole in the first place.

Immediately took out the radiator and ordered an alloy replacement from Ron Davis in Arizona, surprisingly they had a CAD drawing on file for it! Also ordered all new replacement hoses from Dave Bean. Got A thermostat from a local parts store, same as the Isuzu Impulse RS.... the original unit looked fine but was replaced anyway

The new radiator comes in next week, I am trying to get the new hoses in place. While the new upper hose is identical to the original, I can't for the life of me figure out how to get it to the radiator. Just doesn't seem long enough. That damn air cooler is using up all the space. :banghead:

Comparison between original and Dave Bean:

Looking at the parts list
Top hose a.jpg

the FED cars have an elbow connector to the radiator item 3 and the non S.I.R. cars just show a couple of hose clips for item 3
Not sure if this is the case but no doubt some one will be along to confirm or deny

Ah, absolutely right bobbrown!
The aluminum elbow and rubber pipe was found elsewhere in the garage. Must have forgot about this when taking the radiator out at 4am.
