And who would have thought it but a mere 3 months after this post I was doing it for real. Having lost any throttle in the middle of a major junction in Colorado Springs on 23rd August 2015, I spent what seemed like an eternity at the side of the road in the Lotus position groping in the dark behind the throttle when suddenly it clipped into place and I made it to the summit of Pikes Peak (elev. 4203m) on my 60th birthday. Rather than leave Algirdas with a dodgy throttle cable, I helped him replace it. For the Fed model, you have the added problem of removing and replacing the bolster cushion and I would suggest that it is easier if you remove the seat and it helps if you have a spare tub or two to practice on.
