Alternator

Just got the Elan SE back on the road after 10 years of being stood.

Started 1st time but loads of smoke etc (jammed alternator)

So we decided to get a new alternator ,cambelt & pullys ,alernator belt ,serviced, MOT, and TAXed etc

Its been driven around 200 miles scince that.

Then we sent it for respray (took 2 weeks) went to pick it up today and after 5 minuits of driving home and parked (engine etc off) for 10 minuits the alternator was smoking loads(electric smell)

So turned the engine back on , battery light is on constantly and the engine bay stinks.

Just cant understand how its blown another alternator already.

any ideas

have you still got the old alternator ??
my one jammed but a vice, plenty of wd40 and some brute force freed it and its been working fine for months now...
