Engine hops and stutters - sometimes its spark plugs

My engine power juddered and stuttered so I was thinking it could be the CAM angle sensor - however no engine warning light nor a code 41.
I checked the spark plugs, cleaned them and measured the gaps at 0.8mm
But the fault continued.
The local garage suggested it might be a fuel pump, however listening to the pump it was a steady tone and the fuel filter was not blocked.
Running low on ideas as I waited for a new cam angle sensor to arrive I thought I would install some new spark plugs.
This immediately fixed the problem and full smooth power was restored.
My lesson is that if the engine is playing up, try some new spark plugs, at £10 its a low cost easy option
