Timing - 16 degrees BTDC ?

My buddy is a mechanic and has access to Alldata and is going to help me check and adjust my timing. I see on the site here that the correct spec is 16 degrees BTDC. AllData doesn't have our car in their system but I had him check 1990 and 1991 Isuzu Impulse 1.6 Turbo and the instructions were all the same (use the jumper on the ALDL to get into service mode, etc) except that the spec was 9-11 degrees BTDC! That's quite a bit different. Aren't they the same engine? Or did Lotus do tuning and make changes to the timing?

I'm trying to get the engine in the right spec before I finally install my Everest chip!
