I am trying to find the IAC, I have looked in the manuals so I know where it is but I still can't recognise it. Has any one got a picture of the engine showing it?

Oh it is a total ba$tard. Still, with a bit of patience you can undo both screws and get it out without taking the engine out or any other major assembly!
I sadly haven't got a piccy, but can advise you to disconnect the intake hose, move the coolant header tank and then reach in by feel. You'll need a stubby screwdriver to get to the screwheads as well.
Sorry I can't provide the pic! I took one but all you can see are ignition cables.

I have an occasional "stalling under steering load" problem, I just want to eliminate it from my investigations.

Once you`ve removed it, don`t force the pintle, it can be reset by gently rocking it back and forth as you push it back into the IAC body. Don`t get loads of solvent near the body either, it`s a precision stepper motor.
You`ll probably tear the paper gasket when you remove it.
I replaced mine - same syptom as you describe. No improvement in my case, hope you have more luck.
