HELP! Hood cable woe

Postby Andy_Bailey » Wed 04.04.2007, 20:09

As it is a lovely night tonight i drove back from work top down only to get home and pull the roof cable and nothing, i'm guessing the cable is buggered. I now have a car that's not secure and is also parked on the road :( (hope it doesn't rain!)

Is there any way of releasing the catches so i can at least put the hood up?

Thanks in advance!

Andy

You should be able to operate the catches on top of the two vertical pillars manually somehow. I can't have a look just now, but you should be able to manage something with a screwdriver and pliers. If you need access, the plastic covers come off the pillars.

Not much help I know, but it should be possible.
Good luck.

OK - i've had a further dig around and the problem is not with the cable. The actual problem is the LHS link rod has broke off from the bellcrank lever so the catch is not operated when the cable is pulled. I can't quite suss out if it's fixable or whether i'll need to replace the mechanism yet :(

Anybody else had a similar problem before? Thanks in advance!
