may be another A post seal to look at is a over 220 coupe, had a quick look at one today, it sits in a wide c section screwed to the a post, the bottom finish is very similar to the elans,
the lip design looks compatible with the window,
just the top would need a cut and shut job,
worth a look at though

To bring some life back to this topic, I went in search of a Renault and came across Megane ( I have no idea of its age )
But I made a few pictures of the seals that we are all trying to make leak tight

The last picture could be what we need

Cheers

Neil

Off to the local scrap yard after work ....

A Pillar seals

Postby gtm100 » Tue 15.07.2008, 07:32

Neil,
Having made my own seals in desparation from standard profile rubber, I can see a problem there. It looks to me that the Meganne has a fixed quarter light, which means the door always closes onto the seal. In the case of the m100, the side glass forms the seal and provision has to be made for that to happen by closing the door AND by lifting the glass when closed. Not easy!

George,

The picture does not do the seal justice.

The glass is not "under" the seal, the doors may be opened and closed with the windows fully up.

I agree the megane has a quarter light, no question about that, but the quarter light does not have a full frame the window seals directly.

The detail I admire is the shape of the moulding at the top, to deflect water drops.

I went to the local scrap yard yesterday, but no success.

I need to visit one of my local Renault dealers and have a look through the spare parts catalogue.

More as I progress

Neil

Any further progress on this thread?

The odds of winning the Lotto are 14 million to 1.

Any theories on the odds of Lotus producing some new (working) seals before the end of the decade? :(

I think, take the money that seals would cost (if they existed) and buy lottery tickets. Chances of being happy are better.
