BRG Color Code

Postby Ekapol » Thu 02.04.2009, 07:07

Dear Gents,

I have my car in the shop currently for front/back bumpers, trunk, rear valance spraying. My painter couldn't find the right BRG color code for it, even after I told him 2 BRG color code from our service manual (ICI P420GE51 or Dupont ABK9349 basecoat/clear acrylic enamel).

They tried to cross reference but turned out to be the color that is too blue not BRG at all.

I wonder if there was a typo on our service manual or they had changed the color code over the year.

Sy: Did you have difficulty finding the color code last time you had your hard-top re-sprayed?

I appreciate any comments or suggestions. Thank you.

No, no dramas as far as the hardtop painting was concerned, but the shop that did it had painted the entire car about 12 months earlier.
I'm sure they used P420GE51.

:-D

This makes it sounds like there are some confusion on my painter's side. He is into painting show cars, american muscles, etc. and did many wonderful paint jobs in the past. Still that he said the paint code turn into something very blue and not the right BRG hue.

I wonder what Lotus myth I run myself into this time :?

So he mixed up a batch from that code already? Or is just guessing looking at the formula?

That's a great Wiki page - It's going to come in handy when I need to paint a certain rear valance...

Thank you all very much for the replies. The shop had this sorted out, just have to stick with "Dupont" color code.
