Hi,
Is the color Monaco White unique? This is, it is not used in other cars, right?
I am thinking about re-spraying M100 back to its original color. But the traces of white color areas are not too good. And my local paint shop just could not come up with this kind of white on its database.
How would you describe this white color? with yellow tint? Is it similar to Porsche's Carrara White or Grand Prix White at all?
Cheers,
Elan M100 S2

Monaco white is actualy a Vauxhall colour.
They should be able to cross reference it that way.

Can your paint shop not find it from the ICI part number?
From the Service Manual:
A21 Monaco White ICI P4207517

I took the Monaco White paint codes listed on the Wiki to my local auto paint shop and they mixed it right up. I took both the DuPont and the ICI codes and I don't know which they used. I do recall that when they entered the numbers (I only gave them the numbers) they told me the color was Monaco White to my surprise.
I agree with maz_r that you might try providing the paint codes and see if that might not get you what you want.

I just took my car to the local paint distributor and they matched my paint there and then. I did,nt give them paint codes because I wanted to match the colour of the car as it is now not the original paint.

Ade makes a good point that if you're doing a little touch-up like filling some rock chips then you'll want to match the current color rather than use the original in order to take the fading and yellowing into account. The original Monaco White color I sourced from my local paint shop is slightly "whiter" than the original and I presume that the difference is the years of oxidation and yellowing. It's still close enough that when I fill rock chips and then file it flush and polish it that it cann't be distinguished unless you know where to look and examine extremely carefully.
If you want to paint the car back to it's original color, I would go with the original codes since you're not trying to color match something to blend in a chip.
Just my opinoin.
