I pulled the latch to release my top (hood) and the whole assembly came out as the nut on the back had worked its way off. What is the easiest way to gain access.

It's a pain, but here goes.
In my finest English terminology...
Lift the back of the hood and hood cover and wedge the battery cover in between.
Peel the grey coloured carpet forward
this will reveal a three piece black tray
undo the scrivets, you may break a few.
Remove tray
this will give you access to the mechanism and the mounting nut ( at arms length anyway)
you could also change your fuel filter whilst your there.
TTFN
If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... The N/A-Team.

Hmm, I interpreted the post to mean the whole
latch assembly came out,
a la Hamster in the Top Gear episode. Since I've never had to disassemble the latch mechanism, I was ignorant as to how to fix it so I kept quiet. Maybe I still should have kept my mouth shut, now that I think of it.
Anyway, which is it, Dynoguy?

thanks, just the nut backed off. I have really long arms and short legs. My knucles scrape the sidewalk. Sounds like this the perfect car for me, long arms to access tough places and no legs to get in the way of gettin in and out. Thanks for the response.
