and on 'Merlot' I found that the cover at the back of hood had frayed slightly away from the frame
thus leaving a rough edge. This lined up to the marks on the bodywork. Now my hood is in good
conditions so I thought the expense of new hood could be overcome by a fix of this worn fabric.
First photo shows this.

There is another rubber seal inside of the frame which sits on the bodywork and may also have contributed
to some marks.
With the hood down (but not taught) it looks like this before.

I obtained two different sizes of rubber seal from http://www.sealsdirect.co.uk/index.asp item SRS1902 and U155
both 2 meter lengths. (Thanks by the way to JonJon for link to website). SRS1902 was used to cover the rubber
seal inside of frame and U155 was used to cover the outer frame.
With the hood out of stowage and not secured this is what it looks like with the two new seals attached.

And finally with hood down but not taught after.

I do have a selection of other photo's if anyone is interested.
I am yet to fully secure the hood to see if there are any marks left but I shall know doubt have the hood up
when I take 'Merlot' in for MOT and service next week. If the solution works the protector's may be coming
off
