The lighter red bonnet is the really early version (possible Pre production), it would have had silver sound/heat proofing, no reinforcing/ bracing strut, the bonnet stay is the 10" side stay variant. The bonnet will have been subject to a lot of twisting whilst held open by the stay.
Hope that helps

It did have a silver faced foam glued to the underside, it was clearly replaced at some
time though. It was a bugger getting all that glue off! Another note, there was a broken
hood stay plastic clip on the ribbing but nothing to indicate were the standard long hood stay would
have mounted.
It looks like I can drill out the rivets and remove the hood stay mount from the old bonnet and
with a little work make it fit the "new" bonnet.
One more thing, it didn't have the same thick white coating over the FRP like my old one did,
just a thin coat of white primer. Also it seems to be painted with lacquer paint rather then
urethane or enamel..

Naff silver foam sounds standard for that period of bonnet.
Silly question... Is the rest of the car around as I'm still looking for some ultra rare "bitz and bobs" not fitted to standard Elans?
Thanks in advance

Another question...
Would the bonnet be marked with...
I.B.(a number 1 to 9)
Or PP(a number 1-16)
Or a three figure number
TIA

I got the bonnet from John and was told he has no clue were this came from, so no help on
any of the rare bits.
I did see any numbers on it at all, as I sand I can see something on the onside of the reinforcement,
I'll see if I can make anything out from it.
