Very Latest Roof / Hood Seals

This is the design I've been working towards for a while now and finally have it, if you look at most modern soft top convertibles you will notice this is how the one unit header and A pillar seals are, they have this little
extra bit that turns past the angle and continues for a cm or so towards the rear, the effect this has for waterproofing is profound, hence why I suppose manufacturers invented it . Couple this with the one piece side seals
and you have the most waterproof solution for our soft top Elans that you will find.




The header seal isn't actually bonded in place in this one hence why it's sitting up a bit.

This is amazing R&D work you've done. How much of this is "off the shelf" (or rather, junkyard) vs pieces you've custom formed?

If there's a car you've found seals off of to start with, would love to know which one to have a go at it!

Well, I'm going to unashamedly ask the question that some may be thinking about......

..... Are you going to be selling the one that you took off ('A' pillar/header combined) ?

I don't need 100% waterproof to the extent of the newest design, but the 'A' pillar seals on my project car need replacing, so I'd like the combined 'hoop' system to fit.

i dont think he can. because i took the one that was on that car yesterday. .... unless pictures were taken today... but it was that sunny in Rosyth yesterday. what are the chanses of 2 sunny days in a row over there ?

we also concluded that hood is out of alignment... but now that i know eaxctly why/where i think ill have a waterproof elan before winter

That would be some length of a video!, FunElan.. the seals are made from EPDM extrusions and a combination of various manufacturers seal sections, and constructed from several years
of working out the best solution. I have been around hundreds of modern / fairly recent vehicle models / makes and I have yet to find a seal that will fit straight on an M100.

Joao, yes the seals in the picture are actually the ones on your Elan now, so provided you manage to get the hood aligned in the areas we spoke about you should be able to get the setup as accurate
as they are in the pictures above.

Dave, there is a 1 piece header / A pillar seal here if you want it. It's actually a great solution just doing that one itself rather than keeping the sponge on the hood, because if you ever find
yourself inadvertently caught in the rain you are going to be watertight, as we are all aware most rainwater is brought into the car via the header sponge soaking it in and then dripping off at either side,
the 1 piece seal eliminates that. Also looks very neat and fresh of course.

For anyone else....obviously these are not made en masse / commercially, usually only for LEC members and only a very limited amount at that, if you want a set let me know and I will put
you on the list, doesn't necessarily mean you will get a set but I will do my best.

Since the top 50mm of both my A post seals are little more than dust id like to be added to your potential list Jamie. I now know why i found a neatly folded towel in the boot from the P. O

Hi, just put a deposit on a '91 car but it looks like the roof seals need redoing. The car will arrive in 2 weeks. Those seal mods look excellent. Any chance you might add me to your list please Jamie?

Looking really good Jamie, I have the MK1 sides and header and that is very good to say the least, this looks like the next level (I also have the MK x sides by themselves and they were good)
You will save each and every Elan that these are fitted to from out rigger corrosion!!
