Full Colour Change

Postby JCM » Sat 05.09.2009, 16:48

Here's a question.

I'm wondering if anybody has ever changed the colour of their Elan's? I mean a full re-spray in a different colour, not just a different shade.

How much does a full re-spray cost, approx?

Emm, don't know so much Gary, some peeps like to stand out from the crowd, i reckon a deep purple would suit the elan ( lot stronger than the palacio ).

On a fibreglass car a cheap job will be 2k. A proper engine bay and underffloor jobbie 3K-ish... Depends what quality you want. And you'll need a fibre glass specialist if you want a pukka long lasting job.

In my opinion. Don't!
Go and buy a SAXO and make that purple. Pacific Blue rocks!

Agreed. If you want a colour that will stand out, then buy a medina green one !

Or you could have the car wrapped in vinyl for about £1000 - have the colour/graphics of choice but still able to revert to the original colour at any time

No. Medina does not stand out at all.
I've not seen Stevo's orange Elan, but I have seen Kier's & the photo above does not really do it justice. I like it.

Re-sprays are a matter of personal taste. Do I like a colour which is not available? Yes, Gold. I am quite happy with Pacific Blue though, so I have no intention of changing it.

Sorry, but I like PB. Whenever I open the garage, I'm always impressed at how well it suits the Elan.

Mine is in the bodyshop as we speak for a colour change from Steel Blue to Calypso Red. They are removing the doors, boot, bonnet, hood cover, pods etc. I'll post some before and after pics when she comes back.

What colour would you go for?

I'd be torn between Midnight Blue and Norfolk Mustard I think.
Or what about the new Focus RS green? Now that's spunky! And I do like BMW's Laguna Seca Blue too...

Hmmm...

The Blue sounds good. I like the colour of Gary's or black. I quite like teal but none metallic. A&M
