Having seen it in unpainted carbon fibre finish, I'm abslutely sold.

I'd happily take one in that form, as usual, depending on price.

I may have an answer to the hardtop supply conundrum. An ex-colleague of mine, Andy, has offered to take over the project and start producing some tops again. I have worked with Andy for many years on a number of motorsport projects, so I know he always maintains the highest standards and his work is always first-class. I will stay involved with the project (I couldn’t let go of it completely), and I’ll be happy to take any enquiries while Andy will handle the supply.

A great solution and a boon to the community. Thanks for this, Simon!

I am about to jump into having a hardtop made for mine as i found two inches of water behind the drivers AND passegers seats on thursday (probably explains the rubber grommets being placed there by Lotus  ) I have a plan of attack that is a little different from what has been done in the past (not that there is anything wrong with them !, i would love to get my hands on a CF one) and have a prototype alraedy sitting in the garage. But....... before i do i would like to know what the demand would be for one in North America as there would be a different build route for a one off when compared to one that would be used as a mold/mould  So, is there a demand on this side of the pond ? (given only 540 +/- made it here)They would be manufactured in Canada, price is not yet determined but i would guess in the $2-3K range depending on the level of interior work (latches etc) and whether or not its designed to fit 'easily' in place over the existing hood cover or replace the hood cover. Profile wise it would look a lot like this, extended as far back as possible with a forward rake making the car look longer (AKA less stubby!)

as far as I can see, the silver one pictured above looks darn similar on side view to Simon's design

Simon's is so nice in person, you really have to just get it as it is available (?) while anything else is just smoke and wet dreams (like Simon's was once). If they were so easy to make, there'd be lots of varieties for all convertible car types, but alas each car has maybe one or two tops available . . .

I see a slight difference at the back of the roof which, in my opinion, looks a bit better (not that Simon's looks bad as it doesn't). The roof appears to slant backwards more sharply. I'm guessing the glass would be slnated as well, not vertical as in Simon's design. Can't say I'm in the market for a roof though as good as both look.

Doug,
Do you know anyone this side of the pond who has shipped one of Simon's hardtops over? If it was available here i would have bought one, but at 250 pounds to ship just the spare soft top cover (and its flat & weights only 12kg boxed!) which i bought from Martins wrecker i shudder to think how much a whole roof would cost.

I've been off-line on this subject since I thought we were the only ones interested back in september.

I've been on to Simon and after a bit of dithering and taking care of headlight motors, window motors and other recurring delights on my part...
My wife is in the process of ordering "her" hard top for januaryish so you can certainly add us to the list!

Hadn't seen the CF finish - my wife may just wax it.

("My daily" is an improved Delta Integrale 16s - so we switch a lot.
And a 1st series Fulvia Zagato in the family for years is nearing, complete restoration.)

Ovi,

You make yourself understood which is MUCH more than I could do in Flemish.

You will find that many here will rave about the SPC hardtop - lots of people have them.

JECUK's photos show it very well indeed, but like you, I'm looking forward to seeing Matt's pictures, too.
