NOT HAPPY WITH OPTION 1

Postby Gee0 » Sat 07.03.2009, 12:39

I have just had a call from the guy servicing my car AND he has told me that the final assembly (after repair by Option 1) on my car was a shambles, Paintwork is fantastic but,

Anti roll bar were less than hand tight, (Just as well I havent driven it hard since i got her back Bastards could have KIlled me) (sorry about the language BUT!!!!!! )
Intercooler hose NOT on at all,
They reused a jubblie Clip that was rusty and bent,
Self tappers used and NOT screwed home and NOT straight,
A BOLT used and poking into the intercooler (Too Long)
The coolant bottle was almost empty (could have Killed the Engine)
And the drive shaft seal was NOT spotted during repair (was NOT leaking before)

This guy has experience in preping race cars and he REALY was NOT Impressed.

So the moral of the story is Option 1 are Great at painwork but DONT let them REBUILD your car

Must agree!!
Cannot fault paint work, but the re assembly of panels and light pods was a shambles. I put it down to them being in a rush for Donington as my car was only finished the day before the show.

I had option 1 do a full respray last year, my car needed a fiber glass repair to the front and the front cross member tapping down, which he said he would do, on getting the car back from him, the job was shitttttt, paint was just about ok, but had loads of other faults, he didnt fix the cross member, when i asked him he said it wase'nt worth doing ??????, ,i guess he couldent be bothered, laquer missing where door catches are, orange peel on the rear bumper, asked him to spray my spare bumper, which he still has a year later, he made a mess of removing the door cards, carpet wrecked, the list goes on and on, i took the car back to him to sort the paint,
the job wase'nt cheap, for a man who prides himself on his standard of work, all i can say is i wish id'e done the job my self,
since getting the car back, i drove it into my garage, and there its sat, iv'e stripped the clam off, replaced the cross member, galvanised the front end,
i dont like to snag someones workmanship but it was so poor,
i felt ripped off

Wow!

Thanks for this honest feedback guys. This is the first ever negative feedback I've seen about them (if I'd seen any before I wouldn't have recommended them to a mate like Gerry).
I need to get some dealer feedback too - a certain mate of mine used to use them exclusively.
This shows the strength of an open forum. If it's honest feedback without emotion and speculation then it's priceless.
This may 'paint a different picture' about Option 1 - pun intended.

I didn't  It was luck that i hadn't taken her out for a romp last week (well the battery was dead and couldn't be arsed jumping it  )

It has gone for a good service this week and the guy doing the work spoted, so I will have to pay him to put it right.
