NEW Cosmetic car care products

Postby nitroman » Thu 12.04.2012, 09:00

Hemmings Sports & Exotic Car Magazine tests a couple of newly introduced cosmetic (cleaners/polishes/waxes/scratch removers/etc.) products in each issue. Feel free to mention any cosmetic product you deem worthy. I'm just pointing out what gave me the idea for this thread, and why I may have a couple of new products to mention each month. I don't intend to point out crap, and I'd like to only mention stuff that I've tried, but that won't always be the case. What will be the case is that I'll always HONESTLY represent each product, and that I don't own outright, or as a shareholder, any car care product company, so I have no financial interest in anything you see here.

Eagle One NanoWax Shine

No I haven't tried this product yet, but I'll have to the next time I drive by Advance Auto Parts, as they just make it look too easy in the video link above. It costs $6.49. Not free, but not outragious either.

Selling Points:
* Can apply to windshield & plastic trim to provide UV protection.
* Does not leave behind a white residue.
* Lasts up to six months. That's a long time for a spray-on, wipe-off, no forceful buffing wax.
* "Nano" Carnuba wax particles can fit inside tiny scratches & pin-holes for more complete coverage/protection.

I picked this up the other day only because I was going to detail my car.
Easy use products tend to not work for me.
1. It does supply a glass like shine on the parts I tended to and was very easy to use.
One area of interest is that it does not discolor the trim.
2. On the areas that had previous clear coat scratches like when you take your finger and wipe
away a bug it does gloss over the scratch. The scratch however is still their. I then took some
paste wax and applied it to the scratch just treated using standard procedure. The scratch
tended to disappear better with the past wax. I figure this was due to the fact that I polished out
the clear coat.
3. In daylight the product is fine but under florescent lighting you see all the flaws in the surface which
is why I tried the paste wax.
4. I am no polishing expert but would call this product a very good detailer when you want to clear the surface
of pollen, bugs and general road dirt but only after you have applied a good base of paste wax.

Thanks Steve. I hope you don't feel ike you wasted your money.

Manufacturer's sales reps no doubt contact the car rag to inform of new products. I'm like you, just hopeful; and hoping I'm not a shill to the industy.
