Just to expand the hardtop debate, how does a sunroof sound ( no puns please)
I've got rather fond of my top but miss the fresh air when the rain actually stops.
Has anyone experience of fitting sunroofs ,either new or secondhand , to a Fibreglass roof?
Not over bothered about leaks as I don't like taking mine out in downpours , but as it hinges up for access I guess it's more flexible.
Removable glass would probably help.
As for size obviously bigger is better ( think I've seen 206 one ) but the MG shape limits it a bit.
PS.... sorry to those Anti-Hardtop types but variety IS the spice you know.

Oh no! Not this question, yet again. Why can't people use the search box for this kind of commonplace question.

A sunroof in a hardtop is only going to apply to a handful of owners. How about we figure out a sunroof for the SOFT TOP ?! Hundreds of potential customers there.

Now 1/4/15 and still don't see it as relevant. Kurching hardtop I've got is fitted with 4 clips so lift it off, fit hood cover panel and I'm back to hood in couple of minutes..
if sun shines drop hood, if it rains put hood up....

Give the poor guy a break (us Petes have got to stick together

)
I think, personally, that unless the weather is really crap I drive hood down everywhere and, rather like F1 tyre changes, can raise the roof between red and green if needs must, so have absolutely no interest in a hard top. HOWEVER should you be of the hard top persuasion then, given our changeable climate there is some merit in what Pete is suggesting.

why have a removable roof with a removable section of roof.....?
hey....how about a 't' top....
then you can cut huge chunks out of a removable roof......
I think I'd have gone MR2......might have been a better buy if I was after a car with a permanent hard roof......
hey ho......each to their own I guess......

I suppose the reason would be that having started a journey in the rain with a Hard top in place having a sun roof that can be removed once the sun starts to shine would be a good option.
Taking the whole hardtop off once the sun shines and you are away from home is not possible, unless of course your going to litter the countryside with an unwanted hard top and collect it on the way home
Or am I being too obvious ?

My one above the door lets in light when its raised. Is yours darkened?
I think its a good idea, I have considered it myself. Opening a window blasts you with air.
A sunroof lets it in more gently and with less noise. I like the hardtop because a) the rearview
is enhanced b) Its much quieter in general and c) I have extra room to carry stuff where
the hood would be stowed.
I can't be bothered with removing and replacing the hardtop according to the weather.
Additionally anything that lets more light into the black hole of Calcutta is welcome,
I might even be able to read the speedo.
If I want to be macho and in the fresh air I'll get another motorbike.

Well that's some response and I'm not a offended by any negative comments ( I'm a bit silly anyway)
I suppose the main reasons for me building a hardtop were
a) My softy is a bit scruffy and leaks.
b) Too tight to spend £1000 inc seals which are crap
c)Our weather meant the hood was perpetually raising/falling ( there is a seal for that)
So I do thank you all for your comments
Buy the way I once ( in my youth) had a Panel welded into a new Vitesse hood it was superb until a vandal slashed it.
The replacement was sewn in and leaked horrendously in-spite of my efforts to seal it ( lost a girlfriend that way)
Watch this space !!!!!!
