my actuator rod is the problem...please help...

Hello all,

I think ive posted this in general too by mistake so sorry if youve read it but....

My problem isnt to serious apparently so im happy

My actuator rod has snapped off at the wastegate end, so its one of those that i will be needing (plus about four bolts or something) does anybody know where the best place for me to source a part like this from please?

Ive been told the job and part wont be tooo expensive by a good friend that diagnosed the problem so all i need to do now is find my rod lol

oooh i might actually be able to feel my babies full force soon enough it may seem

funnily enough i`ve just recently had the same sort of problem.

When i rang around i was told that you can`t get an actuator without a turbo unit. Therefore it`s a bit expensive.

Luckily enough Monty came to my rescue on this occasion but i did almost sort out a couple of alternatives.

1 was that SJ Sportcars thought they may be able to source me one

2 Forge will make you one, however i had problems fitting one of those to the bracket and fit in line easily.

Monty is a helpful lad on here who had an actuator lying around.

Forge are a motorsport part manafacturer, they make al sorts of things. Amongst these are actuators.

Luckily they also manafacturer parts for actuators including rods and turn buckles!!! I didn`t realise this until i looked at their site fully.

However i don`t think the lotus part is servicible. The link is here for details of what they make

I`m reliably informed that if you want them to make one the spring should have an opening pressure between 0.45 and 0.5bar.

thanks ever so much....i will definately be looking into that, however today i found out i have a performance car mechanic friend who's dad has a proper auto workshop in his garage with welding gear and alllsorts!! its there life long hobby, and they are also able to fabricate small parts so theyre going to have a look on saturday for me.

The guy seems to think its relatively simple and theyll have it done for me by saturday night all being well, so i cant believe my luck....they dont even want payment as they love doing things like this (though i'll be sorting them out to say thanks either way)

i shall let you know how it goes after the weekend tho and if it isnt sorted i shall be using the guys from the website link u sent me.
