Engine cuts out

Postby Hinch » Tue 31.01.2006, 17:54

When accelerating and reaching speeds of 70mph or so my engine regularly cuts out momentarialy and the engine warning light comes on. As soon as I slow down the engine will run perfectly fine and the light goes off until the next time.

Turbo seems fine and engine is otherwise good in every respect.

If the car had a carburettor I would think it was a bit of dirt passing through the carb, because it is exactly that kind of experience, a brief and temporary loss of power.

Rather a frightening thing when it happens just as you are overtaking at speed!!

If anyone has any thoughts on what this might be and how it could be solved it would be greatly appreciated.

Try 3rd gear and full throttle all the way to the redline, if its overboost you'll soon feel the car jerk back the engine light come on and the revs drop. Watch the boost gauge if its going over the 0.6mark ill be my boots it's overboost, especially if its near the 1bar mark when it cuts.

'Error Code'?? Whats that then??

If it is overboost as you suspect is there an easy fix, or do I need to get it to a man who can??

Cheers
