hi there
got my elan the other day
when i first drove it the turbo wouldnt kick in until i put my foot down at higher revs
after i used the turbo now the turbo seems to kick in when i have my foot down only 30% at lover revs and it makes that whistling airy noise much sooner
is this normal??? at lower revs

I am no technical guru, but the revs it kicks in at depends on gear, load and foot pressure.
How loud is the whistling noise, could be loose connections on the pipework. I had loud air noise after a new gasket fit as the all the hoses ahd not been tightened down.

Have you got a 'to atmosphere' dump valve fitted?
It may be the wrong spec for the car and the incorrect spring pressure is letting by.
Or, it may be the correct spec, and it may just be that the spring needs replacing.
Just a thought!
BTW, to develop max boost, the engine has to be at operating temperature and your right foot has to be flat to the floor (100% throttle open). Dont gradually depress the throttle, ram it down staright away!
