Hi new member here I bought Addict's car who is a member on here when we went out for a test drive steam was coming from the engine which turned out to be a loose nut on the turbo which was water leaking that was a simple fix. We then went round slowly to see if the car was fixed all was ok. On my journey home as soon as I got on the M66 I gave it some throttle and it would not boost and kept missing it was fine at a steady 70 in 5th but any hint of throttle had the car missing. When I got home I text him and he told me to search the wastegate topics on here which I did, I undid the 3 bolts and the lever was stiff with a bit of WD40 and movement it seemed to free up considerably. But to no avail the car will take full throttle in 1st and 2nd but will not in the higher gears the turbo struggles to kick in and the engine management light comes on now and again.
I have had the wastegate freed off twice now but it has made no difference unfortunately we never took the car on a proper run when I bought it due to the steam issue as it would have showed up but that's my fault as I should have asked him to take the car on a proper run when I went to view it. Can anyone help me out I have used the search engine the car has the Samco hose kit on and I have checked for loose fittings and it has a Peco exhaust. So annoying am wanting to like the car very much but it won't drive properly!

Looking round the engine bay for anything obvious found a male and female connector unplugged and a connector on its own obviously not related to my boost problem does anyone know what they are for?

have just tried the paper clip method to get a fault code but it will not work the management light flickers dimly for a few secs then goes out, I have ensured a good connection between the black and white pins but it wont flash 12 or anything...

The unused connectors are for a/c etc and are not an issue.
It's a bit worrying that there is no response from the paperclip test - Paul did have an ElanScan lead from me, so if you've got it, see if ElanScan will run. I wonder if your lambda sensor output is misbehaving and ES would show this up.
