Top End Performance vs Samco RE:Turbo Pipes & BOV?

Postby Aoki Magic Pants » Mon 21.07.2014, 22:48

So I've got an Everest Chip & I'm thinking about installing a BOV and some new pipes to generally improve the the air flow. Unfortunately I arrived to the party a few years late so I missed all the LGM goodness, so I've narrowed it down to two choices:

Do I get a Top End Performance Plumbing & Bypass kit from the states?

http://www.racetep.com/lotus.html

Or

Should i just get a Samco set and install the BOV myself?

http://www.amber-performance.co.uk/product.php?xProd=24989&xSec=2288

Does anybody have any experience with the TEP stuff?

Also have Samco sorted out the issues with the Turbo inlet Pipe? What are people's opinions on the TEP inlet pipe with open K&N filter? (Asides from the air temperature vs increased air flow of open filters debate)

The SAMCO turbo inlet issues are technically solved, but the successor is not yet available...

When I bought my Samco Hoses I didn't order the Turbo Inlet hose because of the issues HJ2 refers to.
However, I wrapped the standard hose in Blue PVC tape (I suppose yellow or red tape would work too) and sprayed with a coat of clear lacquer to add a shine.
Not perfect but not a bad match. Good as a stop-gap till the Samco Hose is available.

This is the set up I use. Don't get excited it may not be available any more.
I wanted a clean solid pipe for the intake. The breather sits on top of the cold air inlet
that was in the btm. of the trash can. After spirited runs temp. do not increase much over
ambient on this pipe or the filter.
They use the TurboXS blow off valve, works very well and is incorporated into a solid pipe also.
These pipes are powder coated black.
Performance was definitely achieved and would recommend the set up if available.
