Fault code 22. Any advice?

Postby robertverhey » Thu 26.11.2020, 07:32

Finally getting to drive my elan 2000 SE after 8 months’ storage (due to Covid). I’m getting intermittent CEL, hesitation and dying on idle/throttle off. Running like a dream apart from this intermittent issue. Paper clip test is showing a code 22. Low voltage to TPS. Searched the forum and no one seems to have encountered this before. Just wondering if anyone has any advice on how to remedy?

The TPS is clamped in position by screws, with some axial adjustment to set the closed position. There is a description in the manual. The throttle position has to be set/checked first then the TPS is set to 0.42v?

Easiest to check the operation with elanscan - ignition on but engine not running you can move through the full throttle range a few times spring back etc. Then check the TPS voltage against throttle % and the manual data.

Thanks for that yes I also had a look in the service manual and checked the connections to the TPS, the white wire was hanging by a thread, have resoldered and now appear to be getting the right voltages (0.4V at idle and 3.6V or thereabouts on full throttle). So hopefully sorted, will give it a good spirited run later to check.
