Turbo Boost only hits 0.5

Hello from a Newbie both of this Website and also to the Fantastic Lotus Elan. Having just bought my first ever Lotus I have been reading the forums and believe I may have a problem with the turbo in that the boost gauge only ever goes to 0.5.
The car is (told from previous owner) Stock apart from a Dump Valve and cone filter.
The question is should I be getting more from the Boost Gauge

nope, that's about right. The guage is not very accurate. Some people are concerned that their boost goes off scale (when chipped or MBV'd) and others (like me) only get about 0.5 indicated (standard) or 0.75 (with Everest chip), when I know (from ElanScan logs) that the figures are 0.65 and 0.9 bar.
