ok guys....
I want to do this but its either me or the guy at the other end of the phone but I keep drawings a blank...
I know theyre out there but can anyone tell me the part numbers, description, even who sell em and how much they are would be good to.

isnt that just the filter that drops into the bin as the original did.....
I'm after the kinda cone shaped thing stuck on the end of some large diameter rubber hose to replace the existing bin type filter.....
have I explained that right?...I hope so...does it make sense?

There is no "kit" available from K&N, but it is very simple to make your own if you are so inclined. I'm not sure if the Top End pipe is available by itself. See:

Ah, see what you're after now! 2360 is indeed the drop in replacement and the only off the shelf part I'm aware of. As Dave says making one is not to difficult but remember you want to draw cold air in to the intake (which the stock or drop in does) not warm or hot air from under the bonnet.

how do you know the air temp is any different with the car moving between the stock air source and the front of the engine bay ? ? ? :poke:

no ones done any side by side ElanScan plots of intake temps yet . . .

Brian did measure temps in various regions while driving around once.

I don't with any certainty but the stock arrangement guarantees you're drawing ouside air which in the climate over here is usually a good bit colder in fact at the moment you're probably getting the benefits of water injection for free as well

I'm considering going back to the stock airbox, so I can plum the blow off valve into it...thus silencing it. Is there any other way to do this?

Ed,

Monty & Darren sourced a "silencer" from somewhere in the USA which can be fitted to a BOV and means you can lose the "whoosh" even if you don't have an airbox.

I don't have time to find the thread just now (I'm writing this at work - naughty). Have a go at the search tool.

I have the silencer fitted but it made no difference, think Darren has it fitted but also a small filter attached which might be better :roll:

This is not exactly the stock bits, but it will give you an idea of one option I used. Somewhere out in Elan-land are pics of the HKS-into-stock-airbox I did years ago to silence my BOV.

I'm currently putting together the latest version of my "plumback" as I finish the new intake. It should be similar to the photo above.
