Cluck!
Got in my car yesterday and experienced a loud bang on start up. Then the car runs perfectly, very strange. Have since realised the turbo is not working at all. Is this the worst news possible? Do I need a new turbo? Or is is something less serious(fingers crossed)?
Help needed please

Wezzer,
Initially, I would check all the pipes in the intake system are properly connected - sounds like one has popped off!
If the turbo hads disintegrated and got sucked into the engine you would hear alarming expensiive noises all the time methinks.
Cheers

It happened to me at the Donington services, although Pinky noticed the pipe was off at Donington before I noticed the lack of turbo.

Checked all of the pipes and can't see anything obvious.

I wondered who would be the first - And I was right!!
Either
Yes, I'm a family man and over 50 (what is this turbo thing everyone talks about) and have never got a speeding ticket (now tha is tempting fate) so I'm obvioiusly I'm a very careful and law abiding driver.
Or
No, I got stuck in a traffic jam of doddery Elan drivers between the services and the circuit so couldn't exploit the full benefits of a famous mountain range.

Geoff,
I believe the answer is A, however I've taken the liberty of changing the statement to what it would have been if you weren't too senile to remember the point you were trying to make
A.
