Waste gate stuck

Going to the 24 hr on Thursday and just took car out after a lengthy stand, goes very well apart from the wast gate is stuck
Car goes like a rocket, but I am afraid I will end up with bits scattered over the highway.
Somebody said to hit it with a hammer! Sounds a bit technical to me . Where do I hit and do I need to take the turbo heat shield off
Thanks for any tips and hopefully see some of you down there.

DON'T hit it with a hammer!!!

Get some mole grips on the rod (which if I remember correctly is visable in just in front of the 'turbo' heatshiels) and give it a good old welsh wiggle.

Perhaps a little spray with WD40 Too - isn't it

It will only move an inch or so max either way.
I have a feeling mine will have gone the same way after its lay up

I just did it properly with a mole grips
I think that it may have been stuck slightly open in the past since it seems a lot more lively now
Perhaps a good blast to Le Mans wil get it sorted.

His own way is better, WITHOUT molegrips.
In fact I'm a convert to his method.

I disagree with Neil's disagreement to my disagreement - I meant to highlight my method in the wiggle thread but forgot. I'd certainly advise the use of an 11 year old to get the back bolt in. Champagne and pizza worked for me 11 years 9 months ago - must be a Northern thing!

you can wiggle all you want with mole grips...if it's siezed solid it still won't move you have to get at it with a bar and tap it fro underneath!....carefully though!!

Despite what you all say, there is only one way to do this job PROPERLY.

Take the lot out, polish up the bar, smear of silicon grease and re-assembly.

Hey presto, 2 weeks later (having waited a week for the new studs that you've sheared off to arrive, and had a heart attack at the £3.10 EACH for the turbo wastegate nuts ) all done

Having finished being flippant, I'm not sure if Jeff & Neel actually decided to agree on anything, but any of the methods should work with a bit of dexterity, patience and good luck.
