Drivers door strip down

Postby JonJon » Fri 01.11.2013, 13:30

Hi All,
Two of the jobs on my "THINGS TO FIX" list are the drivers window lift regulator and central door locking. So yesterday I set about stripping the door of it's furniture (I hate scrivets & who's idea was it to glue the carpet over them :smt013) Anyway once the door was stripped I found this; or more to the point, I should have found :smt017 ----What??????? Is this where the Central locking actuator should be?

whats Missing.jpg
Drivers door stripped down.

On the plus side, once the glass was out and the window lift regulator was on the floor, I plugged the power back in and it worked fine. Must have been jammed after 10 years of storage, I heard my wallet breath a sigh of relief :D

Any ideas as to what's missing and where I can get the mystery missing part would be great.
Cheers Jon.

The central door lock controller is located behind the facia/dash: Near the relay station on the RHD cars and above the glove box on LHD cars.

Do your door latch have it's CDL actuator connected? The actuator is a common GM part so still available if yours is missing or broken.

See Lotus Parts Guide plate 10.17A for the internal lock components of the door. Does you door match the illustration?

Illustration 11.02A has all of the track details.

Check all of the nylon parts in the lift system because weak parts will make the window sag to one side and the extra strain could be to much for the motor to overcome.

Also, don't forget to lube the guide channels with waterproof grease.

If you don't have the parts guide, it is available from the manuals section - link is at the top of the page. You will need to ask for access as the manuals are protected.

Hi Brit-Car-Nut,
Not been near the car for a few day's. Yes the CDL unit is in place, I can't see the locking control unit, will have a better look later. So what is the plug in the photo for, any ideas?
Cheers Jon.
