Window moving sloe up & down

Postby Motocompo » Sun 27.08.2023, 19:33

Hi,

I overhauled the window sliders on the right side which is the passenger side as it´s an LHD.

Unfortunetalely, the window is moving very slow. It almost has not enough power to come up!

I followed all the advice from the video but something seems to be wrong. I used silicone fat for the sliders.

Is there any advise for me as I am not able to locate the error.

Thanks to all!

i dont know the contents of the video your looking at. BUT i would try to losen up one of the rails and operate the motor, if the rails are missaligned, its common to get the motors working too hard and even stalling before full travel.

aligning the rails is one of those jobs that is hard to explain, i just observe the movement of the rails when the motor is moving and try locking the lower and upper bolt in different locations multiple times until i am happy with how fast the window moves.

its basically trial and error and just observation of the geometry and movement of the parts involved.

only difference to what you did, is that i use silicone spray lubricant. but i would assume any non-oil based lubricant will be fine. the issue with the oil based ones is that they have a chance of damaging the nylon guides that are attached to the window and sline inside the rails.

Yep, I've noticed that my rhd driver window now seems to take more effort raising than lowering.

It got me thinking, especially since both speakers threadbare and buzzy and at least one of the horizontal window seals are hard and cracked, so I watched the 'Tuga video'...

Grateful for the info, Tuga, but mindful that project creep's always beckoning with these cars; getting the door-card off, tearing away glued bits, glueing it back, breaking the red bits, wrangling rusted fasteners etc are all a major faff!

Hope it's just silicon spraying and/or adjusting the runners but mindful that it's the driver side so could involve a worn regulator needing recon/replacement! Trouble is we don't know 'till it all comes out...

unless my memory is completely shot.

my video is focused on the positioning of the stop bobins,

the NA windows are (were) both completely messed up when i got it. i have done the passenger side weatherstrip and the project creep of that task included door card fasteners, speaker replacement, speaker enclosure repair, stop bobins re-positining and rails re-alignment

i did all that a month ago and took me 4 days instead of the intended afternoon. (mostly because i wasnt prepared to find all that extra work was needing) there will be a video covering all the same jobs on the driver's side coming up.. but thats probably a xmas release or so.

My dad bought the house next door. and apart from being a great starting point for a episode of hoarders as well as some kind of "lets make it super clean" series. it also needs re-plastering plumbing and electrical work.
suddenly i find myself without energy to work on any car in the garage... or video editing or anything else... but i will be recording the driver's side work 100% the real question is "when" it will be released to the public.

the more work i do and videos released. the more i find people doing jobs that could be covered... and no one ever asks for the jobs already released... either the released videos are rare issues. or (as id like to think) people see those and dont need to ask for help

Tuga2112 I find your videos very helpful, thank you. I'm tackling my windows now, as they rattled about and all the seals have disintegrated. I refer to your comments repeatedly :D

Hello again.

Actually the window was moving faster than in the video, but I have a new problem.

The window gets stuck for one second or two when upraising. When driving them down this also happens a little bit,
but almost not noticeable. The motor is running though.

The window motor is not the original one, it is a refurnished one from SP. It´s two or three years since I got it.

Any help or comment is appreciated.

my guess would be that theres some play in the plastic "peg/hook" in the middle its possible that the clip keeping it in place is missing.

afraid only thing i can suggest is to remove door card and operate the system while observing it closely.
when it comes to windows operation i find theres no "common" fault but things usually become clear with close observation
