Electric Window Switches - Same as Carlton/Senator

Postby DavidElena » Sat 28.01.2006, 23:42

Just wanted to let the group know about the elec window switches:

During the last MOT my local garage investigated an 'electrical fault' and ended up breaking both electric window switches (the internal springs, rockers disintegrated somehow). Anyway, they didn't want to know and left me with the problem.

Having prised them out I was pleased to see a General Motors (GM) part number. However, the Vauxhall dealer wanted £80 each to supply new replacements! They did however let me know that they are the same as the higher specced Vauxhall Carltons and Senators of the day.

A trip to my local scrapyard confirmed that they are indeed the same as those used in the rear doors of a Carlton CDX and Senator. I extracted 4 switches (very easy to get out so thought I'd get a couple of spares) and the guy only wanted £2 so £158 saved. Thanks to whoever decided to source the switches from the GM parts bin.

Hope this helps a few people in future.

Thanks for the info David, you'll find similar parts mentioned (along with this one) in the part cross reference section.
