Wiper arm Pinion mounts strip down

Postby Specky » Sat 13.11.2010, 19:54

A two part question...

How do you strip down the wiper arm Pinion mounts?

and the second bit, are the pinions available as a whole assembly or piece part spares?

A picture to show which bit I'm on about.

I think these are very similar to the Vauxhall wiper assemblys/linkages and certainly share some common components. The link with the ball joint “pops” off, as I have had them come off on other Vauxhall cars by them selves. As for the pinions them selves is there not a snap ring just below the tapered section of the shaft?
If memory serves me correctly with the Vauxhall part you can not just buy a single bit as it comes as a complete assembly

Happy with the "Poppy Off" aspect,

I'd just put on serviceable seals and repacked the ball joints with fresh grease, etc..

Long story short,

I have a service assembly ready to fit, but the old one requires overhaul (New pinions)

I'll have a scan and see if there some sort of retainer...
