Elan leak

Postby Neilc » Sat 18.11.2006, 20:18

Hi.

I've got a problem with a leak from the corner of the windscreen.

I've just had my car resprayed by a local garage and they seem to have done a very good job. The windscreen surround was looking a bit tired and the rubber had warped, so they took it off and threw it away.

Unfortunately, the car now leaks even in a light shower when its parked. Water seems to run into the gap between the screen and the hood, trickle off to the side of the car and then drip out where the screen and the door glass meet. It seems likely that I need to replace this piece of surround but perhaps I'm jumping to the wrong conclusion.

Could anyone advise, please?

Thanks

Neil

The finishing strip has arrived and it only cost £3.40 from Lotus as it was part of their surplus stock sale.

Now I'm a bit lost.

Is there something else that I need in order to complete the top of the windscreen?

I've attached a pic of the strip so could someone kindly tell me if its the right thing? It is invoiced as A100B0727F, which is as per the reference number given by Dave. Its 110cm long.

If its the right bit, how do I fix it in place - is there a trick to it?

Thanks again for any advice.

Regards

Neil

Autoglass fitted mine complete with new windscreen a few years back..

So of the top of my head, I don't know the answer to how it is adhered..

Just put the old girl to bed for the next three months, but if you need I'll go and have a look at her tomorrow.
